Crossing the border for the first time
In Dream Flyers we like to meet new challenges. This time, our student pilot Sergi Palau made our first international flight and he did it flawlessly.
On Thursday, June 5, Sergi flew in our basic single-engine aircraft Socata TB-9 Tampico to the international airport of Carcassonne (LFMK), South of France. This airport operates flights to Belgium, Holland, Denmark, England, Ireland, Scotland and Portugal, but no flights to Spanish territory.
Our student covered the go in 1 hour and 50 minutes, crossing the border through La Jonquera, leaving the Canigó mountain (2786 m) at his left. The small villages found during the routing guided him towards the destination with no problems.
Once in French territory, he was communicating the aircraft position and intentions in English, while the control tower of Carcassonne was communicating in French with the other airplanes.
The way back to Sabadell airport took Sergi 2 hours and 15 minutes. This time, he flew over Perpignan, crossed the border through Llançà and followed the Costa Brava until Mataró before he deviated towards the base of operations of Dream Flyers.
The weather was splendid that day: good visibility and some fair weather Cumulus that he didn’t need to cross at any time.
